Boating Indicator

The Boating Indicator evaluates the quality of recreational boating opportunities within the focal segment. The quality of recreational boating is assessed based on several criteria:

  • The length of the boating season as compared to the period of record to determine if the number of “boatable days” is increasing or decreasing
  • The accessibility of the segment in terms of public access locations for launching and taking off, in-channel public locations that can be accessed during a float, and the presence or absence of river hazards
  • User satisfaction based on survey results
